The Manager's Stance on Celtic

The Ipswich boss referred to Celtic as "a really big soccer institution" but emphasized he is "in the middle" of a "extensive rebuilding" with Ipswich Town.

The mid-thirties assumed control of Portman Road in recent years and guided the team to the English top flight with consecutive elevations, but they managed only four games last campaign as they were demoted back to the second division and they presently occupy 12th in the Championship.

"There have been such discussions," the London-born ex- Irish young player said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"This isn't a matter I have given any thought to, or where any portion of my focus is currently.

"I have a special position here at a remarkable team. And we're at a crucial phase of the campaign. Everything external hasn't touched my awareness."

Context and Agreement Details

Reports indicate that McKenna would be willing to talk to Celtic given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our affinities," he said when questioned about these. "It's unlikely all people has to go around and announce what they used to be, but naturally it's a really big football club."

McKenna agreed to a new multi-year deal in last year and was questioned about his alleged £5m release clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are provisions," he responded. "I'm unaware what mine are and, if I did, I wouldn't disclose you anyway!

"I approach this role like I'll be Ipswich manager forever. I understand that's not invariably going to be the case, but I'll always do my best as long as I remain in position."

The Welsh Coach's Position

The former striker represented Celtic on loan from the Magpies in the mid-2000s, but the former Welsh forward is inclined to finish the current global tournament qualification, a stance that would effectively rule out the 46-year-old from assuming the Celtic job.

Wales are presently third in their World Cup group behind group toppers the Red Devils and second-placed Macedonia.

Victories over the minnows and their rivals in November would secure their position in the qualification play-offs, but they are virtually guaranteed of reaching that stage, thanks to a productive European competition performance, should they not end up Group J runners-up.

Given his present position, Bellamy, whose contract concludes after Euro 2028, would be unavailable until following the play-offs at the minimum.
