LA Erupts in Jubilation as Dodgers Claim Back-to-Back World Series Victory
Los Angeles witnessed citywide celebrations after the Los Angeles Dodgers won a nail-biting seven-game World Series championship. Supporters across the globe united with Angelenos in celebration, marking the first time in a quarter-century that a team has achieved back-to-back championships.
Victory Parade Attracts Massive Crowds
Los Angeles area celebrations included a downtown parade on the morning of the parade, a ticketed rally at Dodger Stadium, and impromptu gatherings throughout the city.
Social media videos depict thousands of Angelenos packing downtown streets, many carrying homemade signs and Dodger flags. The team was seen riding high on a double-decker bus through the crowds, raising the Commissioner’s trophy proudly.
“I’m already thinking about the next championship we’re going to achieve this,” Shohei Ohtani remarked through an interpreter.
The procession path ended at the stadium, where the team walked out to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard providing music and the artist cruising a light blue vintage Cadillac around the stadium’s outfield.
Early Celebrations and Player Reactions
Celebrations began well before the parade, with Dodgers fans setting off fireworks in the streets of the city center on the previous evening.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, awarded the MVP of the championship, commented plainly about the win.
“Losing is not an option,” Yamamoto stated. “I love the Dodgers. This city means everything to me.”
Varied Responses and Community Spirit
In contrast, Mark Walter was met with a less warm welcome at the celebration. Video footage from the event appear to show Walter walking onstage to a mix of cheers and jeers, with negative shouts interrupting his speech.
The championship acted as a positive moment in what has been a trying year for the city. An estimated 225,000 people attended to the Dodgers’ victory parade last year, and according to team member Freddie Freeman, fans this year showed as much if not more enthusiasm.
“I feel like it’s nearly twice from last year,” Freeman remarked. “These fans are crazy. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
